Open Source Rural Access
OpenCellular Workshop

September 11 - 12, 2018

at the iHub, Nairobi, Kenya

WELCOME TO THE SECOND OPENCELLULAR WORKSHOP, HOSTED BY IHUB, IN NAIROBI, KENYA. TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNITY LEADERS WILL SHARE THEIR INSIGHTS AND DRIVE DISCUSSIONS AROUND THE INTERNALS OF THE OPENCELLULAR TECHNOLOGY, DESIGN, TESTING, SECURITY, GRANT PROGRAM AND MANY OTHER TOPICS.

WHY ATTEND?

It is a great opportunity to learn about OpenCellular's technology, vision, technical roadmap, understand various open-source technology through live demos (2G, LTE and smart charge controllers) and discover various business models the technology may enable.

OpenCellular Grant program was announced last year at TIP summit Nov. 2017. OCG is a TIP/OC project group initiative to fund, promote and accelerate the non-commercial development and non-traditional deployment of OpenCellular (OC) in rural areas. You will hear from some of the grant program awardees on how they are planning to use OC and most importantly, how you could also apply for the grant!

You will learn how you can contribute and be part of this growing ecosystem of open-source access technologies and, most importantly, deploy them in the field. You will hear from a great line of speakers. We will also have technical, community and regulatory talks from key members of the OpenCellular community. Come and learn from the core team behind the OpenCellular project and be a part of this growing community.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Anyone who is interested in rural connectivity problem, specially in Africa. We strongly encourage technical members of MNOs, regulators, regional operators, entrepreneurs and vendors. We also recommend professors, researchers and students from universities and research labs, there is a lot to learn and contribute to OpenCellular.
